1. THREE NEW ARRIVALS IN FEBRUARY
Three brand-new SW-51 MUSTANGs just landed in America. Each one, like every owner, has a unique story. Here are some noteworthy items and fun facts about these latest additions to the US fleet.
PLUM 51 – MK II and the biggest leap forward yet
Plum 51 is the first SW-51 MK II in the US equipped with the much-anticipated MTV-22 large prop. The new MT-Propeller is 33% larger than the original and increases climb rate 300 fpm. The large prop is a highly visible and dramatic evolution that gives the SW-51 an even more stunning and authentic ramp appeal.
No expense was spared in creating Plum 51 – every option and upgrade available, including the Platinum IFR avionics package, plus a Carlex Italian leather interior that feels like it belongs in a boutique supercar.
Plum 51 is more than the eye-catching color; it’s a nod to the family tree. The Polish heritage of the owner’s last name loosely translates to “plum,” which makes Plum 51 a flying heirloom.
CRIPES ’A MIGHTY – honoring Maj. George E Preddy
Aviation history aficionados may recognize the scheme of Cripes ’a Mighty as that of the European theater’s top Mustang ace, Major George E Preddy. Preddy was one of the few pilots who also achieved “ace-in-a-day” status on a single mission flying a Mustang with the 352nd Fighter Group.
Today, this SW-51, arguably a piece of aviation art in its own right, is owned by aviation art gallerist Dan. If you’re going to SUN ’n FUN or AirVenture, don’t miss Rinehart Fine Arts and Historic Collectibes, with their spectacular large-scale oil paintings of WWII aircraft and other historic collectibles of the era.
STELLA BLU – Stars, Stripes… and 250 Years
Undoubtedly the most American-themed Mustang to date, Stella Blu does more than wave the colors; it flies them – fast. Painstakingly airbrush-detailed by a local artist, Stella Blu features an animated American flag billowing from the nose. The three-dimensional depth and brilliant colors will stop you in your tracks. Stella Blu’s owner, David, set out to create a truly one-of-one Mustang -an aircraft woven with personal details and subtle nods to the life that shaped him.
In the year of America’s 250th anniversary this Mustang wrapped in stars and stripes is the ultimate tribute. If the stars align, you may be able to see Stella Blu at SUN ‘n FUN next month, April 14-19.
2. TWO MAJOR SHOWS IN APRIL: SNF & AERO
April brings two major annual events not to miss! If you’re even remotely considering an SW-51, make time to see the new MK II with the large prop in person. Photos don’t capture the change – the stance, the proportions, the unmistakable Mustang presence only really land when you’re standing right in front of it.

AERO Friedrichshafen — April 22–25
Bodensee Airport Friedrichshafen, Germany (EDNY)
AERO is Europe’s premier general aviation event — and the perfect venue for the European unveiling of our large propeller MK II. ScaleWings will be showcasing the aircrafton Booth 305 in Hall A4, alongside fellow premium brands such as Tecnam, Diamond, Extra and Blackshape.
3. ACES HIGH – READY FOR ITS OWNER ACE
We’re excited to bring a true rarity to the ScaleWings community: the first U.S. pre-owned SW-51 to become available.
Here’s a unique chance for the pilot who wants an SW-51 now, without compromising on condition.
This 2025 SW-51, proudly named Aces High, has very low total time (approx. 80 hours) and has been meticulously cared for since day one – no shortcuts and no surprises. It delivers that hard-to-find combination of timeless warbird presence, modern precision, and turnkey readiness.
