ScaleWings at ArkanSTOL 2022
ScaleWings attended ArkanSTOL 2022 at Byrd’s Backcountry Adventure Center this year. Located on the wild and scenic Mulberry River in Arkansas, Byrd’s Adventure Center is a captivating setting for all types of personalities. With four runways, canoes, kayaks, acres of trails for ATVs, and a restaurant filled with heavenly Southern food, Byrds is a premier destination for any adventure seeker!
The ArkanSTOL OBC is a one-of-a-kind aviation experience inspired by the challenging terrain of the Ozarks and the friendly competitive spirit of its flying community. It is designed to challenge pilots with extreme knowledge of their equipment and abilities. Byrd’s provides a unique setting where off-airport flying skills, in a variety of aircraft, can be witnessed up close. The combination of timed competition and precision maneuvers create a thrilling spectator experience. Competition pilots sum up the The Ozark Backwoods Challenge with the tagline: “How fast can you go slow?”
After the competition US Demo Pilot Major Trevor “Dozen” Aldridge flew the ScaleWings SW-51 for an incredible heritage formation flight with a 3/4 scale Storch owned and piloted by Levi Noguess out of Texas, USA.
