SW-51 Mustang at the “OSCARS” of AVIATION
Every year, the global aviation elite gathers in an exclusive event to award the record breakers, entrepreneurs and visionaries of aviation and aerospace for their groundbreaking achievements. The prestigious event was founded in 2004 by Jerry Lips and has since attracted great attention, reaching far beyond the world of aviation: Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, Elon Musk and Sir Richard Branson, are all members of the exclusive circle of award winners. Amidst the stars of the evening: the majestic SW-51 Mustang, a 70% true-to-scale replica of the legendary P-51 Mustang.
On the day of the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing, ScaleWings Aircraft from Eggenfelden, Germany, officially launched the certification process of its “Living Legend”, the SW-51 Mustang. The masterfully fabricated aircraft was parked next to the red carpet and became one of the most sought-after photo scenes of the event.
“The overwhelming appreciation by the distinguished guests shows that our passion and relentless work to create a unique and captivating aircraft is hitting the nerve of even the most experienced aviation professionals” comments Hans Schwoeller, CEO and Head of Design of ScaleWings.
The ScaleWings SW-51 Mustang is an all-carbon aircraft filled with cutting-edge technologies and numerous ScaleWings exclusive innovations. For example, more than 100,000 rivets, bolts, lids and textile details are optically and tangibly embedded into the skin of every aircraft. Combined with a chrome-polished finish the SW-51 Mustang has a stunning aluminium appearance, just like its “heavy metal” bigger sister P-51 Mustang. Unlike the P-51, however, the SW-51 Mustang comes with contemporary safety features, state-of-the-art avionics, electronically driven flap and gear systems, and even a ballistic parachute system.
